Strawberry?
Hiya,
What do people think of feeding a small piece of strawberry once a week as a treat? Could it be too unhealthy? He eats weeds every day. Thanks. |

I am not sure the only time I fed it was after poor Shellie had been attacked and I needed to administer his medicine - he weaned off them really well though

I feed strawberries often, but then I have a redfoot. I'm sure once a week would be fine, but wait until someone who actually keeps med torts chimes in.

Hi
For a med tort there is no need to feed 'treats'... if you want to spoil your tort and give him/her a treat, try a nice slice of cucumber... cucumber holds no nutritional value but helps in the summer with keeping much needed water/fluid on board. My torts go mad for it... but they only get a slice in either hot weather or once every couple of weeks. |

hi aurora
for med species i would be inclined to treat them with a gorgeous juicy flower for example a piece of honey suckle flower or rose petals fruit is bad for med torts so isnt really a treat |

Okay then thanks all.
I have tried cucumber but he didnt seem keen. He's a very fussy tortoise really. I go out of my way to find interesting new weeds for variety and he often ignores them and would rather have a dandelion leaf! Im currently growing a weed mix so Ill see how that fares with him soon. |
