Default Female Sulcata wanted

Female Sulcata wanted, age 5+ - definitely not for breeding, but as a companion for my 6 year old male sully, who keeps trying to get a meaningful conversation out of a football!

Forum members may remember him - Kim's lovely Stompie. He now lives with me in his own heated brick built outbuilding, with a third of an acre to run around in.

He's having a whale of a time, but would like a friend.

Will obviously pay, and willing to travel to collect.

I did wonder that. Especially if he's amorous with a football!! Bless him!! Won't you need a few females? I'm assuming you can't castrate a tort like a dog.

Do you really want your male to turn into a monster?
As once a male sees/has a female they can change dramatically, not always for the better. Far better a football, than having to have separate quarters to give the female a rest. Or a battered female.
And yes you would need more than one female

Anyway, what's wrong with breeding? Allow them to have some fun!

One of the reasons for not breeding Sulcatas is, to many come up for rehoming once either they get too big or costly, or people's circumstances change, such as the financial climate at the moment.
If you breed them and can't sell them you might end up having to keep them. Then space becomes a problem.
If keepers are aware of this and can then still keep them it's not a problem

If that is the problem, the poster can always choose not incubate the eggs. But why deny them a bit of fun?

Is it fun for the female?

I would think so. It is the natural thing for animals and humans to do. I know that animals do it usually to breed but saying that female animals dislike it is a bit presumptuous. If they really disliked it, they would make that they are not caught by any male.

Sorry I disagree, it's fine if the tortoise has the choice, but in with a male she would have no chance, and a lot of damage could happen.
