You are probably correct I am torn between diets. I have never been a fan of pellets and I know it's not long, but have kept torts for 4 years very successfully without them. The only tortoises here that get fruit in their diet are the redfoots. It went against the grain for me to give him pellets. I have very healthy tortoises without these, but I am not stupid and if that's what this Chaco needs I will continue with the pellets and a few strawberries at the end of the day his survival is paramount whether I agree with pellets or not.
I much prefer to see my tortoises eating weeds it looks natural compared to them eating multi coloured balls of goo sorry !

I also meant to say, I did read those articles a couple of times and they were excellent.
I know you keep Chacos, have loads of experience with them, therefore it would be stupid of me not to listen to your advice and I do appreciate it.

Thanks Jo, he is up moving around everyday now, he was trying to climb over his spider plant this morning. Lol.
He has a way to go but without all the help and advice here I think he would have been a goner. Thanks Ed and Danny and especially Chris whose pm box was never empty due to me, you always replied, no matter how often I questioned you, thank you

Update, today Pepper passed a poo which was very close to normal
so hopefully now his digestion is getting back on track. It's been a long two months but he is worth it as he is a lovely little tortoise. It was such a stressful time but seeing that today was like winning the lottery

I'm so glad your patience and dedication is being rewarded Beverley, and that things are looking so much more postive
