I understand your predictament with the expense of vets bills, however could you not phone round your local vets and get the price of a blood test to confirm exactly what is going on with his kidney function.
Around here (Surrey/South London) a full blood test including kidney and liver function, which is sent away and not done in-house by our vets is just under £60 including VAT. For peace of mind, well worth it.

This was the charge to the vets themselves, as Stephen works there on a Saturday and we were not charged for the consultation.

I am sure Jemma will do her best and in this case only one result will be needed, the kidney function, just to see what if any function is there. It would give a better idea of what the next step is.
I am sure jemma knows this and that we are all hoping for a positive result both for her and Pumpkin.

Really sorry to hear whats happening with pumpkin... must be a very hard time for you. He certainly sounds like a fighter bless him.
I had a similar experience last year after hibernation, but thank god all was ok in the end. Im not going to lie, this year was very hard when it come to hibernation time.. Im sure lots of people, including myself have learnt from you sharing your experiences.
