Default Live food

Hi,

I am hopefully purchasing a lizard or amphibian and while I myself have no problem with insects - I'm sure my other will.

I hear you can get them frozen - does anyone know a good supplier of these?

My OH used to have a snake, which he fed with frozen mice (much to my dismay). He got these from the local pet shop. I think quite a few pet shops would sell these, but depends on what you're looking for. Maybe google what type of food once you've decided on what reptile you want.

not sure if frozen foods are the best for lizards, i know some people have issues with live insects, but i found that hoppers that have been gut loaded suits all my lizards, i dont like crickets because when they get out(note i didn't say "if" they get out) and they will get out they are a total pain in the butt, and don't fall for the "these are silent crickets" all breeds of crickets "chirp", Black crickets are a lot slower than the brown crickets but are renown "biters" left in a viv during the night they will bite your reptile. a good all rounder are hoppers, and you can tell your other half "aawwww look at the cute little grasshopper".

try

he is cheap and nice quick delivery, i buy sacks of 200 hoppers for £20.00 plus £2.00 p&p

My dad used to keep snakes when I was little and my mum told me about the crickets that escaped and the one that got behind the radiator and sang its little heart out till it's dying day lol. I've got a thread on here asking about this, it's called dead insects because I can't bear the thought of putting bugs to there death, kirkie gave me a site which I used.

I used dried mealworms for my hedgehog as my other half will not tolerate live creatures being feed to anything. ( I didn't know you could get frozen crickets )
However having read about the damage that can be done by eating live mealworms I'm glad we use the dried now
