breeders questions
I am going up to see a guy shortly who might have a tort for me, but i wanted to know what sort of things i should be looking for in a good breeder, i know about food and housing but is there anything i should also ask him about so i make sure he is a good breeder, he said to my mum (it was her who found him) that he would only give me one if he was happy i could care for it, so i feel like i am studying for an exam. any tips gratfully recieved jen

Have you got your set up sorted? i know many breeders will ask if you have a set up ready or if not what you willl be using.
Tell them that you will be feeding weeds and name a few such as, dandelion, vetch, sowthistle, bind weed etc etc

he has hermanns which is what i was really after, but after reading on here i wanted to make sure he was a prober breeder (which he does sound like he is) i have an idea what to look out for now thanks to the web site and i will have a list of plants, i am almost just waiting for my t rex to arrive, if i think he is doggy in any way i will walk away, i know i reall really want one but i will go up and see what like he is and go from there, although it is hard to try and not get too excited

The movement of certian tortoise is governed by DEFRA, and hermans is one of those listed, It is illegal to collect any of the listed tortoises from the wild, therefore illegal to sell without ther Article 10, which gives details of the tortoises breeder, location, parents microchip numbers..
If he is selling without article 10's walk away its illegal.. Darren |
