Default HELP Mens sizes please

I want to buy some long johns for my dad and he's a 46-48 inch waist but in my catalogues which go up to that size its all in xl xxl etc and there's no conversion table. Please can anyone help, I even phoned the catalogue and they didn't know either and couldn't find a chart, I wish they'd put the size in inches as well as xxl. My dad is elderly and has circulation problems along with prostate cancer so can't wear anything tight he also has size 12 feet and its a problem buying clothes the right size that don't pinch ankles etc. Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

Could you get one of each size and sent the wrong one back?

It would be 3xl as i am normally a 2xl and i ordered some waterproof legs in a 3xl and they were a lot bigger than a 2xl if that makes any sense

thanks so a 3xxxl is aprox 46-48 waist? I have found the ones I want just needed to know which size to order, dad, although in his late 80's is still around 6ft so he's not particulary fat. H'es just very tight with his money and never pays out for things that fit rather buys cheap small sizes where he can, which would be fine but they give him problems with swollen ankles/feet and make his waist sore he is silly. I always try to find some decent socks with none elastic tops for him but most only go to a size 11 and he's a 12. Xmas and birthday pressies aren't very exciting for hime but if he won't pay out for propper fitting clothes then I have to, he's so tight with his money yet has £1000's in the bank.
