Readigrass
Hi Guys,
Do any of your torts eat their Readigrass to excess, mine will eat it all day long, I know it is only grass and will do no harm but it seems to build up inside and his poops are then massive, not his normal torpedo's more like sausages I am concerned that he may hurt his bottom passing them as they really are very big for the size of him. Would you advise swapping to an alternative for his hide ? Sorry all my posts seem to start off with wind or poo lol Thanks Fiona |

I've just brought some of this too, so I'd like to know aswel! Is your tort a horsfield? Apparently they are the greediest type of tort. Would like to know what everyone's experiences are!

Hi Cazzykins , yep he's a Horsefield (king of the munchers lol) he is a pig and would eat all day when he had plants etc in his run/table. Now I just feed him his daily rations but he tops this up himself with the readigrass.
He does love it, he digs down in it at night as well, which he didn't used to do. Only snag it seems to come out the same as it went in OUCH....... |

It does come out as it went in. One of mine ate some the other week. I was told it was harmless. Don't know about excessively though.

Hehe that sounds lovely! I'm getting a tiny horsfield soon, and the breeder said it was very easy to over feed them and make them too fat! So a bit worried if i put it in the enclosure and she goes for a midnight snack! just see how it goes I guess!
Where's everyone else's valued opinions? Come on guys, start posting fat tort experiences |

Quick update, fatman ate the readigrass like a nutter for the first 2 weeks (as above I was getting concerned) but just to let the others who've bought some know they do stop eating it now he snuggles up in it like a duvet lol.........

Hehe thats good to hear! I haven't put any in my little one's enclosure yet because I think he would munch it till he puked. I may try some when he's settled in a bit more, but he's trying to chomp on anything atm so probably wouldn't be a good idea!
