Cool Shelled Dating....?

Since my recent erm...split, I got to thinking - what if there was somewhere that one of your little loves/interests was also someone else's?

I'm sure there are many lonely lost souls out there, who come on shelled warriors and yes, maybe it's a little sad - we could be described as a bit kooky, bit norma no-mates. But it's not always easy out there to meet people with our interest in reptiles. Lets face it...if you're single and went on a date, they might find it a little weird.

So I posted this poll as who knows what something like this could do. If you vote no, it's no problem. If maybe - you could be swayed! If yes you probably see what I mean having been there.

Not gonna say nothing more. Post your thoughts, if you want to. Just wanted to see what people thought. First poll I've ever done.. Might be my last lol xx

I'm undecided. I worry it could cause problems if people turn out to be plonkers (not the word I wanted but best be polite)
There are plenty of dating sites out there that do work, myself and Gorebrush are living proof of that.
But, it's not necessarily a bad thing to have as long as people behaved as adults and not let problems spill out onto the forum and ruin it for other users. How boring is it when people are constantly at each other unnecessarily?!?

I think the "meeting" option is a great idea - you can never have too many friends Maybe the "dating" bit would be an outcome from a small group meeting. Wish there was a "reptile fan group" local to me, the sheep just don't seem to enjoy my conversation Seriously tho Rach, is there a reptile group in Bristol - big enough place I would have thought x

Lynne, we could make our own reptile group!!! I don't really want to date after it though if you don't mind, I'm sure you're lovely and all, but, my hubby just wouldn't like it!!

This would be my concern too.

But I think Lynne may have a point. Local meets could be good. x

I don't wish to sound negative but when you join a dating site surely there is a section to fill in your hobbies and interests!?

A forum is where like minded people with a common interest can exchange ideas but still remain faceless. If you want to meet people with the same hobby as yourself with a view to a future relationship then wouldn't it be better to join a local group and go view the goods so to speak

I voted no in case you hadn't guessed!

I think members who are already "attached" to someone would say no to this idea, I know (as with rach) that we "single" folk find it very hard to meet someone with the same passion for our torts, I know my previous partners didn't have the same passion and it caused a problem, I myself would love to meet someone with the same passion as me (when im ready for it ofcorse) and ordinary dating sights don't necessarily match you with like minded folk I'm not saying "yes" to a dating thread etc, but lets not rule it out completely, I know members relationships can and have caused problems on here in the past but not everyone is the same. Anyway I don't mind either way would be interesting if there was one that's fore sure x

My husband has no interest in the tortoises, they are my hobby not his, they give me an escape, I wouldn't really want him involved (only with constructing enclosures etc!) it is nice to have a seperate interest to my other half, it gives me my own identity.

Yes I agree alley, but when you first meet someone for the first time they don't understand that most if not all of my time is taken up looking after my animals, they are a tie and new boyfriends don't understand and want to go out all the time and I can't do that.....it's probably me I am too committed to my animals and don't want to spend time away from them haha x
