Default Egg day 78 open or not?

I have a Marginated egg on day 78 which hasn't pipped. It seems to have been developing normally & I tested it with a Buddy monitor on Saturday night, it still has a heartbeat. Would you open this egg or leave it?

It is one of four, the other three all hatched from day 72 onwards - which is a lot longer than last year at the same temperature (31) & in the same incubator.

I would leave it, after my experiences this year I would be extremely reluctant to open any egg in the future

18.5.13 Myrtle laid 4 eggs
22.7.13 2 eggs hatch
25.7.13 3rd egg hatches
31.7.13 4th egg finally hatches!

all were in the same container/position in the incubator.

Yes that clutch of Myrtles took longer than normal, it was her second clutch this season, maybe that has something to do with it?
Well there was a 9 day difference between the first and last hatchling so it shows that they all develop at different rates.

I would be scared to open it. I have no experience with breeding but after seeing the veins in the egg I would be worried that it will start bleeding and that I won't be able to stop the bleeding.

Well i had one only this week that i didn't open as i thought i would give it chance but worrying got the better of me and when i did open it it was perfectly formed no yolk sack but unfortunately it had died

So i wish i had opened it when it was alive then at least its chances of survival might have increased

But we must remember we cannot save them all whats ment to be is ment to be
