Pyramiding?
Hi folks,
Newbie here, just looking for a bit of advice. We've done lots of research and feel that we are ready to get ourselves our first shelled friend. My question to you more experienced people is do you think that this (slightly blurry) photo from a private seller is of a tortoise that is showing signs of Pyramiding? We understand the importance of viewing a tortoise in person, but are just doing preliminary checks. The tortoise in question is about 2 years old. Any help or insight is much appreciated. Regards, Tetraodon |

i would say the first two years of a tortoise's life are the most important in regards to pyramiding.if its smooth after this time it should carry on growing smooth.if you can wait a little longer there will be many breeders on here selling this years hatchlings, these will have had the very best of care,if you carry on with a good husbandry regime you will have little trouble.
i think you need 5 posts before you can put pictures on. regards dave |

Thankyou both for your help.
Buying from a breeder is definitely something we would prefer to do, but have had no joy finding one locally. Do you know if there are any breeders who are in the South-West, preferably Cornwall or Devon? |
