My red foots take hours to dig a nest 2-4 hours, they dig down then they make a groove to push the eggs in once they have laid a few.

SHE IS DIGGING WITH ONE LEG THEN THE OTHER THEN SOMETIMES BOTH- but the shaking started a little before she began to dig the hole, its calmed a bit now but shes still trying to dig and yet she has hit the bottom of our table and is shreading the water proof plastic layer we put on. the other 3 are just watching her and shes still scraping away. hope shes not nesting as im not set up for her dropping an egg. if she did i wouldnt know what to do.

My iberas sometimes wobble when digging a nest. I would say she is digging one.
They go into a sort of trance, but if you can dont let any of the others disturb her.

I wouldnt say its anything to worry about myself

But if she is hitting the bottom you need deeper substrate she may still lay there though.
My substrate is 3ft deep which is too deep really need to be as deep as the lenght of your tortoise and a tiny bit more

aggh should i take the others out- they usually get out around now to have a wonder round my living room so might do that. if an egg lands what should i do?

should i turn the light off? or keep it on- i have a combined heat/uv but could turn on a backup ceramic i use of a night.

Yes i take all my other out they disturb them, but if she is hitting the bottom might not be a bad thing. If mine get put off digging, the dont normally try again till the next day, giving you time to get the substrate deeper. Leave the lights on
