Strange question for you!!
How long is a "While" As some of you will know, I have had surgery on my foot, been off my feet for 10 weeks & had a huge boot to put on my bad foot, so 2 weeks ago I had the pins out & was told to keep wearing the boot for 1 week then gradually get back into shoes, closed in shoes like trainer, So, what I want to know, in your opinion, how long is a while??
Marg.

I'd say untill there's no pain, so if it hurts after a while then call that your taking them off point and trainers because they usually have more space in the toe area than shoes, or at least mine do. Not 'fashion' ones but proper running/walking ones and if needed wear mens for a while as they come up a bit bigger in the toe/ball of foot area and a good pair of trainers will support the foot more than ordinary shoes. I use Sketchers as I have a wide foot and they can be bought in wide fitting they are also nice and soft to wear with good support. The other choice from trainers would be a good make of walking flat lace ups like the Hotter brand some of them have a more boxy roomy toe area but their not cheap so would need to be something you'd use again I wear the Hotter Stream which come up nice and wide, well cushioned and I can walk for miles in them even used them to go up Snowden but most of the Hotter range are at least £60 but they are made to last and if you want comfort then you'll buy them again and again.

A 'while' is a period of time......so I guess how long it can be depends on whether it is a 'long' while or a 'short' while!!!! That's not helpful is it Marg.....because eventually a 'while' turns into 'ages'...... So I guess when you get to that point your while is too long!!! X x x xhugs x x x

I would say this is hard to judge, as everyone heals at different speeds. Otherwise they would give you a more difined time. A neighbour had pins in her ankle just before Christmas, had the pins out in March, but she is still hobbling around. She is one of these people that is frightened to "do things in case" so not really a good example. But shows how some take a lot longer to heal mentally and phyically.

The only way to find out is maybe to see your GP when and if you feel the discomfort and/or pain is subsiding. He may say try exercises a few times a day - without the pressure of you standing on it. But I wouldn't go doing anything until you speak about it with your GP. xx
