Garden soil would do, it's only to stop them from rolling and dry would be better, wet soil or compost could crack the eggs, so you may want to change the wet compost for dry. Good luck.

she may well lay another 1 or 2 just keep your eyes peeled.

your welcome Sue, I always have 2 running 1 with eggs in and a spare in case the other breaks.

Oh how wonderful...wish I could find some eggs in my females bed, I've already got everything, incubator, vermiculite, etc.....just need some eggs lol

Looking forward on the eggs progress sue and seeing little baby horsfields x

I really hope they make it but need to keep all fingers crossed & will post progress if there is any.

I have marked them with a pencil and written the date on in pencil (it happens to be my wedding anniversary 37years today)
I found a large plastic tub and placed some potting compost in the bottom then laid some straw on top of that, put the eggs on top and covered them over with a good layer of straw and placed the tub under a heat lamp.
I also watered the compost.
The eggs are now snug and warm so fingers crossed.
I live in a bungalow so have no airing cuboard.

If at all possible, I'd get an incubator. It's going to be hard to keep the temperature and humidity at the right levels as you have them set-up now. Temperatures of 28C to 32C and air humidity levels of 70% to 80% are what you want to shoot for.
