Default Not good at the moment...

So that I don't block someone else's thread -

Thank you for your messages and those that have sent pm's.

My Father who was 82 and suffered from Parkinsons was admitted to hospital on Sunday 26th June following a fall at home. He said he had a severe pain in his stomach. The ambulance came (its a bit remote there and took 50 minutes to arrive) but it didn't appear to be too serious. Due to his sudden poor heart rate and low blood pressure and the 90 degree heat he was taken to hospital.

We arrived (live 60 miles away) to hear that it was an aneurysm in his abdomen the mortality rate for which is high. The surgeon was called who said an immediate scan was being arranged as it might be a stomach abcess. Then came the devastating news that he had a large mass in his abdomen and it had spread to his liver. We were told there was nothing they could do, except "feed him up and get him back to some sort of good health and send him home".

Things got worse quickly - he had numerous infections and a very severe chest one and was too ill for a biopsy. We stayed with him all night on the Tuesday returning during the day on the Wednesday, leaving about tea time only to get a call to return to the hospital about 9.30 pm. We arrived too late - he had gone.

The shock has been awful. He was giving up as the Parkinsons took hold, but the Specialist had said in May how pleased with him he was and he wouldn't need to see him for a year.

He died never knowing he had colon and liver cancer (as on the death certificate). In fact he never knew anything from Tuesday morning.

The funeral is tomorrow, and I'm finding it increasingly hard. He was the kindest and most generous man so immensely proud of my two sons.

Again, thank you for all your kind words. I never expected this so soon and so suddenly.

I am so so sorry, try to be brave and strong,it is so sad

My Gran had an aeortyl aneurysm (sp) so I think it is sililar or maybe the same
She had stomach pain for months, they said it was IBS
I rang her every day,one day when I rang she asked me to ring her milkman as he owed her £1,I said I would and ring her back
Ten minutes later I phoned her back and she didnt answer, she never went out as she was too frail
She had passed away in those 10 minutes,I felt so so sad,my children cried all night.
That was 4 years ago, sometimes I am glad that I got to speak to her and I was the last one to,and that she probably didnt suffer and then other times I am angry that I didnt get there in time
Thinking of you and your family and Hope you get through the funeral ok,so sorry xxxx
