Default Sahara's new pad

Well I did finally manage to persuade the OH that just one more snake would be fun... and so we have been busy building again. I only got her home on Sun and she only got into new viv today, so i will post some pictures of her once she has had a chance to settle in :O)

Hiding out and keeping warm

New Viv

Hope you like it

thats a really good idea, i like how there are still drawers and another door on there.

did you seal the viv in any way? varnish or paint with pva?

Neil.

Thanks guys

To answer a few Q's, Joanna, I havent seen her use it yet, but she is still in hiding... it might take her a few days to feel secure enough to come out and explore, although she did come a fair bit out of her hide this afternoon and then when she clocked my movement she shot back in again. Her previous owner kept them in a seperate area so she didnt ever see a lot of movement but he did say that she does like to curl around the highest rung... I think it might just take a while lol!

Rach... a girl does need her wardrobe for sure lol... me... i need mine and a bit of my OH's too... it's only fair to share eh <gg>

Neil, the idea is that as she gets bigger I can expand the viv, firstly into the spare single side, and then if need be down to the floor area. In the meantime the space comes in really handy for spare kit for her, all her thermostats and all the tort stuff too ( scales, diary, nutrobal, weed seeds etc etc etc).
I didnt have to seal the unit as such, however I have put in a 'false floor' with polystyrene tiles and then followed by a sheet of glass. This is then sealed to the base of the unit using a non toxic sealant like they use for fish tanks. I then put a sheet of foil on the glass where the heat mat is, heat mat on top of that,( that stops the glass cracking from the heat) and then a sheet of porcelain tile to prevent any burns to the boa. Also means everything is really easy to keep clean. I always take my snakes out of the viv to feed, so no worries about ingestion of substrate too.
Snakes are a bit like torts in that there are a million pieces of conflicting advice about what is right and what is wrong... all I can do is try to get it spot on for her. I am well chuffed with the look of it too

Thanks for all your lovely comments folks, you really are a lovely bunch of people!
