certificates! need some info!
hi everyone,
quick question, at the vets where my girlfriend works, a man brought in 5 spur thighed tortoise eggs in and said does anyone want them... debra said that her boyfriend would like them (me) and she took them and put them in my incubator. i know they made it to the incubator the same day as they were laid and that they are spur thighed but thats all! debra didn't even ask the man any questions! so i don't know what subspecies they are. the point of this is, . .when and even IF they hatch... i don't know because of the lack of info, ... i'll be needing certificates. how do i get certificates for these tortoises if they hatch? i have no idea who the egg bringer was. i've a sign up at the vets but he told debra his local vets was in the next town on.. do i need to find him for anything or can i just contact the officials> any info would be great.. thanks Neil.

I think to register any hatchlings you need the identies and both parents.
Not 100% though. |

You need the certificate numbers of both parents to be able to apply for hatchling certificates.
Not sure there is anyway around it.

Contact DEFRA and explain what went on, and that you have been given eggs that were brought into the vets and ask their advice should they turn out to be fertile and hatch.

i've no idea who or where this guy is, but his local vets in the next town is the same company my girlfriend works for so she'll be able to talk to the reptile vet there.

It really is worth asking for ID photos of the adults, if he has a mix of sub-species it would be best to destroy the eggs before they hatch as you don't really want to be hatching hybrids.

If you have no plans on selling the animals you would'nt need the certs
Its only if you plan to sell of breed and sell the young they would need registering dazza |
