Exclamation Tortoise Update-Operation

A Few picks of tortuga before we first took her to the vet, she has now had her operation and has survived the operation. However the vet is still very worried as the stone was like nothing he had ever seen, he was unable to break it in order to remove it as it was so hard, he said it seemed to be there a very long time, it looks just like a normal stone from the garden, although she cant have eaten it as its bigger than her head.

Here is the stone removed

They are keeping her in she was just waking up they going to keep her in a few day, due to the stone not breaking the operation went on much longer than they had hoped and due to her size it was quite difficult to remove.

That is a calcium oxalate stone and they are hard. With the colour she has had it for a while.
I'm glad they got it out and hope she's doing better soon

A diet to high in oxalic acid and not quite enough hydration for a diet that high in oxalic acid.

We have had her for a year, we have always fed her correctly (very strict with her diet, fed on mixed multileaf salad mix( we checked everything in it ok) weeds from shelled warriors, small amount of romain, carrot and butternut squash only as a treat, and dried flowers from shelled warriors) with baths every other day, more when she needed it(when it was very warm in summer ect, and fresh water was always available, he just said that they can normally break it in order to extract but in this case he could not break it at all meaning the operation took longer, it's about the size of a 2 pence piece and she isn't all that big either she fits into the palm of your hand she is between 1-2 years (currently) we are guessing. How long do you think it has been there? Also what could have caused it I know it's caused by foods with high oxalic acid amount but we have never fed her anything with high concentrations, could it possibly have been the place we got her? and grew bigger.
(we never fed chard, rocket, spinich ect, we where very carful)
