Default white clover (dutch?)

hi all,

just need a helping hand.. our lawn is covered in weeds, its a lovely sight!

lots and lots of clover everywhere as well as the other things, however what i want to know is;;

is common white flowery clover high in protein? is it just the red clover? someone mentioned something the other day and i always thought the white variety was ok but thought i'd better get some opinions..

i think what i'm talking about is dutch clover.

thanks all.

Neil.

hello,

sorry to say that i'm not actually sure if it is high in protein. i have a tortoise who is 2 years old and he loves it. my advice would be to give the weed to your tortoise if he likes it then let him eat as much as he wants. its a fact tortoises know what foods are good and bad for them.

hope i helped a bit

Only adult tortoises are more aware of whats good or bad for them, not young tortoises. It seems they learn as they get older. But I still wont have plants in my garden I know are high in oxalic acid or protein, or are poisonous to them. Just in case.

All the leguminous plants which incldudes the clovers and trefoils are relatively high in protein and in my opinion should be fed in moderation. I don't think there is any great difference between the red and white clover in trems of protein.
