i also have 4 brothers(altho one is not actually where real brother, the mother of the litter had to many so the breeder added one extra in with my lot lol. when i first had them i kept them on sawdust as such as that seems to be the norm for these rodents...but after about 3 weeks i noticed small red marks...i reackon it was the sawdust irratating them, so for the last 3 years they have been on coco fibre,with abit of the chinchila sand. i kept them on this after seeing some in dudley zoo that were living on a tree stump/roots with dirt as substrate. these seem to love it. ours are called. coke,pepsi,max and diet.
