Default Babies questions

My 8 and 6 days old babies don't seem to be pooping yet. They are eating, I think, although not very much. Logically, what goes in should go out at some stage. Should I start getting worried? (I bath them twice a day to help their bowels to move and to prevent dehydration).

Also, in some book I read that they are born rounded shape and within 4 days they start getting the usual elongated shape. Mine are still rounded.

They are THH (from Corsica) and they weighed 13 and 11 grams. Is that a healthy weight for them?

Do you give babies some extra vitamins to make sure they have all they need? Or just the same care as for older tortoises?

Baby torts are just mini torts , so treat them the same. Babies can dehydrate quickly, so a daily bath is fine, a humid hide also helps to prevent overnight dehydration, keep the substrate ( top soil is best ) slightly moist, so when they dig down they create a humid micro climate, feed them just the same as adults, with a dusting of daily calcium and nutrobal 2/3 time as a week. I wouldn't worry if you haven't seen any poo yet, you might have missed the event, cos it's so tiny. Remember babies do sleep quite a lot too.

Most babies are quite round with any med species, my THB is round at 7 months.

Hanako I think the weight is probably normal but they do vary quite a lot even when tiny. I also agree with Suze - at that size the poop is tiny and easily missed.

Most of my tortoises poops in the water. These ones have a warm bath twice a day and there is definitely nothing in the water. Even if it was tiny, I wouldn't miss that. Most of poops are various shades between dark green and black-ish colour. They definitely don't poop yet.

Just wanted to share that both my babies has managed to do their first poop yesterday! Not sure that you really wanted to know that, but maybe you want to celebrate with me their first milestone? (I suppose, it s useful to know for those who are having their first babies that it can take even 10 days for the food to travel from mouth to their vent. Unless we were a bit constipated.)
