Default Small growth on the tail

One of my boys has grown a small growth on his tail. Any suggestions what I should do about that? It doesn't seem to bother him, but I am not sure if it can be left like this or if it needs to be removed.

It is definitely growth. It didn't used to be there.
I was wondering whether I should try to tie a cotton around it like we would do with a verruca or skin tag, hoping that it would fall off, but I don't want to cause him any pain and at the moment it doesn't seem to cause him any discomfort. So maybe I should leave it? Unless it starts getting bigger...

Maybe the tortoise has identity crisis. It thinks that it is a dragon (the one from fairy tales) and therefore should have two tails. Let's wait until it finds out that dragon should also have three heads!
