Default shell pealing off tort

hi i have posted before about my 2 torts i bought from paper , i bought them in april last year , i knew when i went to see them that they were not well, they were in tiny viv , fed on pellets had never been out side there heat bulb was resting on their legs , so i bought them knowing i was in for problems but i couldnt leave them there , they were full of 3 types of worms , that is sorted , in sept last year i noticed that a section of the shell was coming off under one so with advice given bathed in iodene , seemed to get alot better , but today noticed that more shell starting to come off and also a bad smell . any advice please and also should i move from other torts , he is very active and feeding well , and pooing fine , any advice please , i will take to vets monday , also leg skin peeling off , can see white bit today , not sure if thats other torts done that tho , cos put his mate in from hybernating yesterday , thankyou , im trying to put piccys on now , julia i am having trouble moving piccys from my profile ,

If you can gently remove any of the really flakey shell then do so. And again bathe in diluted betadine or the like, to stop bacteria setting in. Dont pull the shell if its still securely attached. But if you can spray under with the diluted betadine or like.

i would separate this tortoise to prevent any further damage to him
and to minimise cross infection to other torts
the bad smell may indicate the need for antibiotics
good luck at the vets

hi sorry , bad smell was the iodene , got a bad cold at the mo , tort doesnt smell , ive bathed in iodene and just dryed with hair dryer , under shell , thankyou for adding piccys for me linda , also what would cause this shell to come away , most of it underneath is lifting .

The link didnt work for me Linda
But most shell damage is done by other tortoises bashing, being dropped at sometime or falling off a large rock. Once bacteria sets in then thats when the problems crop up.
