Default UVA/UVB lighting + basking lamps

Hi all im new here, and wanted to ask your views on heat lamps. I have 2 two year old spur thighs in a large plastic rodent cage, with lighting specially fitted to the top I have a 60 watt normal household bulb and 12 percent UVB strip bulb across the top. The 60 watt bulb does not get very hot really and I have heard about heat and UVB bulbs which do both. I used a 60w basking lamp once and it seemed too hot they were running around like crazy , so I took it out. Am I doing the right thing with the 2 seperate lights. I have had them 3 months now and researched lots online but seem to find conflicting advice a lot. many thanks micky0
