She sounds a bit like she may have come from a farm, what with the rope, eating from the floor, barking at lorries, matted coat etc, or maybe been dumped or lost by Travellers??

My dog used to bark at everything even us. I took advice from a dog trainer and everytime she barked when I didn't want her to I squirted a bit of water in her face from a water bottle, It worked In the end I only had to reach for the bottle and she'd stop. Another thing is rattle stones in a bottle as soon as she barks, it distracts them from barking and they don't like the noise.
Let her settle in first untill you try anything though, good luck. Post some photos so we can see her

I had to pop out for an hour and came back to discover she has ripped up her bedding !!!
There is filling all over the place I did notice her biting at it earlier but she stopped when I told her off ! Is it boredom do you think ?

Lynne, I don't think she is that young maybe three or four. her teeth are pretty white and good.
Not that keen on treats either, I suppose she never got them. Will have to try and get a bed she can't rip !!

I squirt water at one of my dogs who barks at everything? it works... I use a childs water pistol for the bedding what about one of those hard plastic beds with old sheets/blankets in rather than a soft one with padding? my Lab used to chew everything even plasterboard off the walls when he was bored.....good luck x

Awww, I'd definately have done the same as you Beverley!
She could have ripped her bed through boredom or, if she's had chance to get attatched to you, it could be separation anxiety, she might be worried that she's going to get left again. Something like that dap stuff might help but I've never tried it. Good luck with her, she sounds gorgeous xx |
