Default Fridge temps

I am having real probs trying to regulate my fridge temps for hibernation. I've got bottles of water in etc to try and stabilise the temps but still getting quite markedly different readings in different parts of the fridge. It's just an normal sized family fridge (no freezer attached) and it's a in a cool room with no heating on. Readings vary from 8C to 1C??? Any ideas - maybe a new fridge? The one I have is 5 years old. The seal could be better but it's not bad. I have really reliable thermometers so not them!

Hi,
Do you have the boxes in the fridge that your tort/s will hibernate in? this may help. How longer has the fridge been up and running?

Hiya! Yes, all 4 boxes in and filled with shredded paper etc. Got 5 large bottles of water too. Been trying to regulate for 2 weeks now and temps are so variable in different parts. I'm thinking it's the fridge but slighty hesitant about buying another incase I find the same.

Hi. My experience with fridges is like that too. Near the cooling element is always colder. Even with a good door seal there is usually a higher temperature near the edges.I think its worse the smaller the fridge.

Sorry not very helpful answer!
