Lighting help Please =(
Hello looking for some advice I have a solar glo 125w it's hanging from my table
it's reaching temps of 43oC Now obviously this is to high so I'm having to turn it off for a bit. Roxy is fine and very acctive but I'm worried as it's a combined bulb she's not getting the uv she needs So I have two ideas 1, Get one of these http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/e...pact-lamp.html so she still has uv when her lamp is off or 2, Get one of the above and a spot light bulb..... Which would be best if any.... Any advice much appriciated Thanks all x

Silly question - can't you just move the light a bit higher?

Hi Cara, I have a solar glo 125 and made myself a gantry/thingy to hang it from so I can lower/higher the bulb as I find the temperature under the bulb does vary due to the ambient temperature in the room. Here the weather has been a bit strange so I do find I have to alter the height to get the right temps.
I also have one of the compact lamps and use it for some extra light and uvb when it is very dark and dingy outside, again with this strange weather it has been very dark recently during the day and I have found the compact very handy. Much better too if you have the reflector as it concentrates the light on the table and not everywhere. Hope this helpsx |

Hi Cara
I have a Solarglo 125 on a gantry as well and it seems to be going okay, looking at your pic (I love the set up by the way) I think that you should be able to make the current set up 'height adjustable'. Cut the vertical 'supporting board' piece in half, and then screw another piece of wood to the bottom section of this supporting board (I hope you know what I mean, I can't think of anything else to call it) that is still attached to the tort table. Drill a series of parallell holes maybe two inches apart, vertically, on this new piece of wood. If you then drill one set of holes at the bottom of the freed top section, to correspond horizontally with the new piece of wood (ie maybe you could put three holes in a straight line an inch away from each other) you then have a gantry that you can adjust in height by simply screwing and bolting it in place at whichever setting gives the optimum temperature. I hope that this makes some sort of sense and that you and the lovely Roxy find an ideal solution |

Think the best bet is to higher your solar glo and use the compact at the other end for extra light and uvb. Then you should have good temps, good light and good uvb. x |
