Default Sealing/lining table.

Hi.

Just made a new wooden tortoise table as my tortoise outgrew her last one. Having looked through this site Ive gained a lot of information on better substrates and am going to change from the hemp I had previously been using to the sand and top soil mix many reccomend.

However, I am just wondering what you guys would reccomend - lining my tortoise table to prevent leackages etc or sealing it and varnishing with a tortoise friendly varnish?

I would rather just seal it as opposed to line it but am after advice on what you guys think is the better option?

Also if you decide I should line it can you give me an example of a suitable liner, or if you decide I should seal it, can you rpovide me with a suitable and safe sealant to use.

Thanks in advance.

I was just wondering the same thing! I'm planning to convert to soil/sand substrate, but would need to line the bottom of the tort table.

Does anyone use standard tarpaulin? Is it sufficient? Or is there some sort of special tortoise liner people use..?

Hi.

After finding some other threads on here I decided to seal the bottom of my tort table using a weatherproof exterior woodglue and then lining it with lino.

I went to my local carpet shop to buy the lino and apologised for it being a small amount, but told them what it was for and they ended up having an offcut more than big enough for what I needed and let me have it for free.

Thanks! I hadn't considered lino. Good luck with yours!

I've used tarpaulin and I've used pond liner. Both good

I went to the garden centre and brought a selection of gravel trays which can be planted up and changed around. It will withstand being watered regularly.
