Default Flaky Skin??

Hi recently i've noticed that on my little horsfield torotoise Frank that his skin around his back legs and head is becoming flaky and peeling. Does anyone have any advice on this or is this normal as I can't seem to find anything about it on the web.

Thankyas

Shedding skin is perfectly normal in tortoises
As long as there is no redness then you have nothing to worry about. Please don't be tempted though, to pull at the skin, it will come off on it's own

Glad this is on here...Snorks had a little bit of skin hanging off his nose last night, pleased it's normal.

His nose is totally dry though...is this normal too?

It takes a long time to get enough but if you collect all the dead skin and mix it with some milk it makes a good breakfast cereal and at the same time saves you money on porridge

Adding a few raisins is a good idea because then you can pretend it's a museli/porridge mix

A dry nose on a tort is good
It's a wet nose on a tort that gets us all worrying

Default It usually follows a growth spurt

Yes mine have the flaky skin thing too. I believe its especially noticeable when theyre having/had a growth spurt. One of my little ones didnt grow at all then after a great deal of encouragement suddenly sprang into growth & he looked so tatty, really patchy & scruffy, but it didnt seem to bother him. They have a water dish with stones in & I have sometimes noticed shed skin in that too.
