I really don't know, sorry, there is a chart called the McIntyre Ratio which gives a guideline to what a Horsfield should supposedly weigh, but I have never used it and don't keep horsfields so I don't know if it is a good guideline to follow or not
Hopefully someone will be along later who can advise you about his weight

They didn't soak them - to be honest, they didn't do much for him at all - no lamp, hide, wet food etc and used sawdust for bedding so I think Snorks may have a had a bit of a culture shock living with me who actually provided for him!!

Thanks I'll take a look at it now.

Can you tell from my profile pic what breed he is? I can post more if not...it was confirmed by the vet (a specialist) that he was a horsfield but some of the pics I have been looking at seem to liken him more to a Hermann?

Hi here,

From your Avatar picture he does look like a Hermanns Tortoise to me. Are you able to get a big photo of him, also on of his underside, should be able to tell you for sure then.

Thank you for taking a look - he has just gone back in to his hide, so tomorrow morning I will take a few more pics and post them, if you could take a look then, I would really appreciate it

I've just had another quick look and he could well be a Horsfied after all! The scutes on his carapace show a lot of thick, dark bands at the lower margins of the scutes where keratin layers have been put down in rapid sucession. Made him look kind of Hermanns like but a big picture (even a full size one of your Avtar) wil clear up the mystery.

I think you are right dave, I just looked at the pic on the profile which is slightly bigger than the avatar one. it looks quite tall on the avatar
