Default New To Tortoises( Horsefield)

Hi All

i will soon be getting a Horseflied tortoise and want to make sure everything is set up perfectly for when i get him/her

i have bought a large rabbit rabbit cage, plastic on the bottom with a cage covering the top so its nice and open for plenty of air flow.

what would be the best lighting to purchase ? i was looking at a separate heat lamp and then a UVB light tube aswell. any help or links to sites would be great

thanks !

seperate heat and uv is often good for rabbit cage set ups. Alternatively you could buy a 160w comined d3 bulb with a dome and that will provide tort with all he needs. Have a look through the indoor housing for more ideas on how to set it up.

I have always found surrey pet supplies reliable and helpful

good luck

Hi Charlie, if you look on indoor housing, mines the last one on the last page, it's just what you've described , and you can see how I've set it up with an ordinary spot light, 60w bulb and uv strip light 12% suspended from the cage top.

Surrey pet supplies are about the cheapest on line, and good service.
