Default Measurements

Hi all just weighed my new Hermanns.they are one year old and have slight pyramiding. They are all less than 100 mm and 100g so I can't use Hailey, but the Jackson hatchling ratio says that it is for torts under 6months. Where can I find out if they are healthy? According to the Jackson hatchling ratio they are all quite underweight, but I'm not sure I should be following that.

Hi
They are:

79mm 97g

77mm 88g

75mm 79g

70mm 65g

So they are all around 15g underweight.I've only had them for a week and feed them weeds once per day, they are very active.the breeder fed them twice per day (also weeds) I fed once per day because of the pyramiding but now I think I should feed them twice per day?

Food amount's is not a proven cause of pyramiding, could try a pile more than they need, they may go back to it to finish it off. If you have'nt done this already. Or the twice fed a day, i found this a better way to feed in a table indoor's.

I understand lack of adequate humidity can also play a part in pyramiding, so maybe that is worth considering.

Thanks I've read that since but they aren't interested in humid hides so I'm just spraying the soil daily. The breeder had them on a dry substrate (looked like woodchips don't know the proper name lol) so maybe that caused it.

Actually the Jackson ratio for hatchlings/younger tortoises is a bit low after they get into the larger sizes. So all your tortoises are quite a bit underweight. I'm figuring 79mm--120g, 77mm--118g, 75mm--105g and 70mm--90g.

This is interesting... as Fiorano, now dubbed 'Porky' seems to be bang on target, at 79mm and 120g!!
Valentino, who I thought was underweight... then 'normal' weight... I now think is underweight again... 75mm and 93g.
