You could. or you could rest the coldframe on house bricks and leave a gap for the tortoise to get in and out

Would this be big enough for one 4 month old hatchling? I was thinking about something a lot bigger.

I dont see why not unless its a giant species... obiously it would need some kind of lid and eventually would need something bigger.. but it would make a nice cheap option for smaller torts..

you need the frame to be attatched to a heavy base as they are so light, its easier to mount it on a wooden frame and leave a gap in the wood for the entrance. Bricks will work but it needs to be attatched to the bricks, the slightest wind and you'll loose it otherwise, another good idea is to put a couple of paving slabs down first, they will stop any rain/water running in and you can put soil/whatever in the frame as bedding.

I don't think it says what size it is. They are very lightweight and as said above best fixed to a wooden base like a 3" x 3" fence post cut to suit with a gap left in it. For a bigger tort it would obviously need to be a higher piece of wood.

I was thinking about getting one just as a warm up area but it would need to fit under the lid of my outdoor enclosure which is only about 10 or 12 inches high. I may just make something myself that's more sturdy. Not sure there is any way of fixing it down anyway, the frame would need holes drilled and not sure it's wide enough.

The raised border is not bad at £12.99

if the area is under cover and doesn't get wet you could dig a sort of tunnel/entrance, one thats lower than the cold frame, it wouldn't work without cover though as any water would just run into the frame. You could even lower the floor if you don't have the height, sort of sink the frame or just the floor.
