Rather Annoyed

Well I know I shouldnt really bring personal matters into this but I would like peoples opinions.

As im picking up my tort on friday my parents asked me for names and I said Nesta (After Bob Nesta Marley)

And my mum immediately said no, all because my dads first wife was called Nes and I tried to explaine to her that it was after Bob Marley and she was having none of it!

So she said to call it Spud, or name it after one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But I said I didnt want to and I mentioned names Like Zion and Kingston, but she said call it Spud which frustrated me!

The main reason being I only get £30 a week from E.M.A (college money) and I've saved up to buy it and the other things that come along with it Substrate, Food, Housing etc.... And im still not allowed to call it what I want. I was just wondering what idea's you had or anyway to convince her?

Perhaps calling it Nesta isn't a good idea if it's going to upset your Mum, but I don't see why you should have to pick a name that you don't want.

Yeah thats what I mean, I wont give up just yet i'll wait to see if anyone has any other ideas of what to do.
If not I think i'll just call it Zion or Kingston I like it, But she doesnt, But its my tort

Hi,

Is Nes in your Dad's 1st wifes name short for Vannessa by any slim chance?

You arent calling your tortoise Nes you are calling it Nesta.

Failing this how about just calling him Bob Marley or just Marley, this might be a good compromise, you have named the tortoise after your idol and your Mum is ok because its not named similar to her hubbies 1st wife.

Yes it is Vannessa but everyone is lazy in Ireland and calls her Nes

And I cant call it Marley because my staffy is called Marley lol

Tell her to bugger off lol! I would my Mum. Its your tortoise and you should name she/he whatever you want to. Maybe you should stick to Nesta just to annoy her

I'm nice to my own mum honest!

Just don't always do what she tells me to lol!

Haha, sounds just like me and my mum although I can be rather spiteful when im in a temper

I think I will I mean, i've saved up and that so it shouldnt be an issue and surely she should be more mature and grown up about it after all its a name and a tortoise!
