Question Small Nares Causing Problems?

After seeing Periwinkles lovely big nares I was wondering..
Norman one of my Iberas has really really small nares. He is also prone to RNS and I was wondering if there could be any connection? I mean if anything gets up there it could cause irritation and as they're so small it may not find it's way out... am I talking rubbish?

Fluffbum has tiny nares too, but (touch wood), has never had RNS. I have often wondered why youy see big nares on some torts, would be interested to know.......

Maybe they pick their noses when we're not looking.

Periwinkle has nares that you could crawl up and shelter in on a rainy day, I've never seen anything like them before. My torts ones are small but you can see them actually move the soil when they breathe out through them
