Why so bloated?
Hi Guys,
I have a 5yr old Horsefield and have noticed just recently that he is a bit bloated, taken him to vets (recommended from here) for this and told he is fine. But I can hear his belly rumbling and he trumps too and advice. He is fed on weeds and nothing else, (home grown) so no pesticide etc on them. Any advice would be great as this must be uncomfortable for him. Many Thanks Bomin Boris's mummy |

How much do you feed him?Maybe you could reduce his food slightly or feed smaller meals more often

I've not heard of a trumping tortoise, but that's not to say they don't! One of my horsfields looks quite bloated if I give him a long time in the bath, he looks a bit puffy, but no trump problems!

Thanks guys,
CJ maybe thats it because he likes to sit under the light so much I bath him every morning for about 20mins to prevent dehydration this is ever since he once had gritty urates. Maybe I should reduce the baths to every other day. Jackie he is a pig I'll try just dinnertime feeds, at the mo I split one meal into 3 small ones and he eats his readigrass if i'm late feeding him. No wonder he's bloated. The glutton |

Maybe I should reduce the baths to every other day. I only bath Charlie every other day for about 15 minutes and he does take on alot of water during that time. When I first got him and bathed him daily he used to get very puffy! |

Hi guys,
Sounds to me like water puffiness, possible on the chest(for want of a better word), and you`re welcome to come to my house at bathtime for those who haven`t heard a tortoise trump phheww, i`ve got one hatchling in particular that rattles the bath from it`s hinges, and it smells too The others are more lady like though, x |
