urates
Quinn just passed the biggest urate I've ever seen him do....about the circumference of a 1p piece, it's very softwith a couple of gritty bits in it but I've never seen it this colour before.....is he dehydrated? The brown speckled are bits of coco coir.

Looks kinda grey, I think probably dehydration, I have seen some of mine not quite white before, but not been concerned about it as its white other times x

I agree with Bev a bit with dehydration, but more likely the gritty bits are calcium oxacilate sand (so basicly mini stones in the making). These have nothing to do with the urates (but do come out with it) but come from a moderate amount of oxalic acid in the diet. It's good they are being passed and not staying in the bladder to be added to.
Might want to check his diet and cut back on some of the food with oxalic acid in them. Danny

Can I just ask would the green leaves from florette crispy salad contain oxalic acid?

Would all depend on whats in the bag. Spinach and Chard have a fair amount of oxalic acid in them and they can be found in packaged salad mixes.

Mmmm so Quinn just passed these........
I can't source enough leaves so it's supplemented with mixed leave salad (possibly contributing to stone formation) but I didn't want to feed him loads on pellets but would they be better than the salad? Last edited by Mighty_Quinn; 07-06-2014 at 11:18 PM. |

Pellets would be much better than salad if the salad has spinach or chard in it. If you can just get a salad that is lettuces that would be better or just feed leafy (opened up) romaine lettuce heads (the greener the better).

there is big slates in his table......these little stones where in among his urates they are solid. would stones formed in kidneys be that hard or would the crumble??
Maybe i should take out the slate for a while and just use pure coco coir and monitor??? |
