Unhappy Heat/light help

I am going on holiday on Saturday morning and my two are going to stay with relatives. I have set up their holiday home as a indoor rabbit cage with a basking light which all seemed fine until I actually put it together.
It seems that the bulb is going to be really quite low down as I have attached it inside the cage to the roof. There is no way of doing it any different and now I am panicking.
I testing it and measured it before but I must have got my measurements wrong. It will be about 20 cm's above the top of Sheldons shell. I am now worrying that her shell may get burnt.
They will be staying in a living room which will be warm. Am I better off just keeping the thermostat low and using a low wattag bulb? It is quite a bit rabbit cage so they will have a good temp gradient. I just don't want them to get burnt.

Can you not attach two bits of wood to the sides with cable ties and fix a piece across the top at the correct height as a temp measure and then hang the bulb from there

Thats what I have done (well, my dad had the idea ) to make it a bit higher but I am using a Exo Terra Glow light holder so it won't go any higher up
I don't have any other light holder than that one.
Is 20 cm's too close? Even if I keep the temps lower?

There are pics in this thread of how Jumblebee cut out a wire at the top of the cage so that the lamp holder is on the outside of the cage.

Place the lamp holder above the cage and use a higher watt bulb?
