Default Sleepy tortoise

Hi my horsefield is 5 years old, been in a table for 5 months, for the last few weeks he's been very quiet, off his food, staying in his hide and only eating and basking when I bring him out.
He goes outside when it's warm and sunny, but as the weather has been very wet so he's been inside.
His bedding is a mix of wood chippings, ready grass, tortoise terrain mix of sterile top soil, sand and limestone grit, also repti turf substrate.
His lighting is an Arcadia 100w d3 basking bulb
Any info would be gratefully received

Your tortoise is probably far to hot. Especially if kept inside.
You are also Ian sorry to using the wrong substrate for horsfields. They are renown for their digging abilities, so need soil or the like, up too five inches deep, if not more.
Also once a tortoise has been outside that's where they want to be:0)

He would be fine outside all summer, rain or shine, all he needs is a dry box and a cold frame. He may well be far too hot. I also agree on the substrate, he only needs top soil, not all that other stuff. Put him out and leave him out, with a water tight box and a cold frame.

hello Julie, yes lots of stimulation for Horsfields. digging climbing boffing and eating. Ditch the woodchip if he eats it it can blow up inside. outside as much as possible as they are rufty tufty little things, dry and warm fine for this time of year. just to make sure weigh him and bathe him if he has been under a lamp and not drank/bathed - they dehydrate massively. up to 10 mins every hour for 3 hours if not had a bath for a while. 20 mins ok too if think he needs it now. lets us know how you get on.
