We used to have chickens but once they died we didn't replace them as if you have chickens you always have rats close by and can't cope with them anywhere near the tortoises.

We kept chickens once, they were battery hens given the outdoor life and roosted in the apple trees until they were trained to go into their house at night. They were great for clearing the ground. X x x xhugs x x x

We've had to dig the wire down into the ground by a about a foot to stop the Foxes, fingers crossed that will be enough. Rats, not had any as yet. Hope I don't see any, the really freak me out. lol

They're lovely Chickens though, our youngest has completely tamed them and we're getting fresh eggs every single day.

They're really beautiful, aren't they? We have 5 ordinary Chickens at the moment. They've just started laying, double yokers no less.

We found when our hen first started laying there were double yolks..... It settles down as they get older. We also had a few bantams, but wasn't too keen, as they tended to be a bit 'pecky' when we went near them.........it was a bit like having a small yappy dog x x x hugs xx x x

Yeah, they've not been laying long, still very young. Lovely things aren't they? They're very vocal when they lay an egg as well. lol lol
