Hiya, Horsfields tend to need the same set-up as other med species, same temps, substrate etc. They love to dig and climb so a good depth of substrate is essential as well as an escape proof enclosure. They're a bit more damp intolerant than Hermans, and tend to be greedy little monkeys

Great little book if you're thinking about getting a Horsfield is Ed's book:

Russian Tortoises by EJ Pirog. Currently on Amazon for less than £9 it's a great easy read full of tips on keeping a Horsfield. ( how's that Ed?)

I would post the link but my computer won't let me do it lol

Horsfields are wonderful tortoises with great characters, but i am biased as i have 5 of them, they are all different personality wise and i absolutely love them all, they do like to climb and dig, climbing is the biggest problem i found as they will climb absolutely anything and they are experts at it lol, so you do need to make sure walls are high enough and every corner has a rock or something to push against to help them right themselves when they fall on their backs, which they do becasue they are good climbers but do fall back sometimes lol, every nook and cranny needs to tortoise proof as even i thought i tortoise proof the whole of my garden and lilly (who is about 4) managed to find the only small gap in the fence and escape i was so lucky to find her as i have a forest at the back of me, so thats something you need to ensure.

Looking forward to the pictures when you get yours x

Yep just as Binda and bev said.. they are pretty much the same as the rest, especially hermanns, the only difference between hermanns and horsfields really is that horsfields don't like damp and bindi said so less spraying the substrate and no humid hide.. thats pretty much it i do believe... if theirs something else im sure someone will let us know
