Sad news.
Hi everybody. I know i haven't been here for a bit due to lots going on with life in general but have been keeping up as much as possible.
Unfortunately I have bad news - Daisy died today. It was very unexpected, she had been a bit quieter for a few days and not really eating but nothing too abnormal, there were no respiratory problems and bowels and bladder were working ok but this morning she was dead I can only think it was possibly some sort of blockage or rupture or maybe an acute septecemia (although no evidence on shell), I am now hoping it was nothing contagious so have disinfected everything i can in the hope that Herbie is ok - at the moment he seems completely fine - if anybody has any suggestions/ideas they would be very welcome. I did consider an autopsy but nearest specialist vet is not very local and not really sure what it would acheive. |

oh that's awful Vikki, I hope you are ok. Sometimes it just happens and we don't seem to know why. Just like life I suppose. CB

Sorry to hear your news the trouble is you just don't know what's going on under their shell as so little is visible. Mary

Thanks everyone. I guess it always is a problem to know. Daisy was the one who came to me with a less than perfect shell and was full of worms so i guess that maybe there was some underlying issues but she had seemed fine until a few days ago and even then she didn't seem "ill" otherwise she would have gone straight to a vets, the only consolation is that she didn't seem to suffer.

Vikki I'm sorry to hear about Daisy. As others have said it can be very difficult to even know there is anything wrong. Never mind what it might be.
You did everything you could to provide a good environment for Daisy.

I'm so sorry to hear such sad news, Vikki.
You must have been devastated to find her. As the others have said these things can and do happen but you took Daisy in and gave her a better life than she'd probably had before so I hope it gives you a shred of comfort to know you enriched her life.

So sorry to hear this news Vikki. It seems unfair that this can happen when the care given is so good.
