My Babies home
I know its a viv and that in itself isnt the best. But aside from that is the set up ok?
Uploaded with ImageShack.us Mix of sand and top soil ... wood chips sprinkled on top. I use this as I can easier see the poo!! In the process of building an outside run for when its sunny but I do take them out regular and bathe them every other day |

What are you keeping in there? Personally I would get rid of the viv and build a little table .

I just use topsoil now after trying other substrates. Not sure about the wood chips as I have never used it.
I have pebbles, a log, plants, and growing weeds in too to add interest. I also make different heights in the soil, like little hills and valleys, to break up their eyeline. Marly loves to climb the log and the little hills I built my table too, for very little, from correx. |

So literally grow weeds in the viv?
I can't have a table at the momment as i simply dont have room. So just trying to give the best with what I can. Vivs main problem is tempreture and moister I believe so I have put 4 extra vents in ( 2 high near heat lamp and 2 low on "cooler" side) this should create some air flow. I also leave the doors slightly ajar and take them out in the garden everyday. I have tried different heights of soil marley but they seem to dig them out!!!!!!! Its a very light coat of wood chip and mostly top soil. They love to dig through it!! |

Yes, I dig weeds up by the root and plant them in the enclosure
I don't have loads of room, which is why I made my own enclosure. Out of correx, its easy to use, no sawing, nailing etc, its already waterproof, and I could get the exact shape i wanted. Its not very wide but it is very long, to fit the space I had. Here are a few pics of my set up. |

could you turn the viv on its side, and take the glass out to make a table?

Thats what I would do too Phoenix, I would simply take the glass out. I would put a thick piece of wood across it so that they can't see/climb out (Where the glass would be)
