Thank you for all of your kindness. It is very sad and unexpected and I am just hoping now that Herbie is going to be ok. (He seems fine - eating like a little pig etc.!!)

Very sad and shocking, but as others have said, tortoises are very good at hiding underlying problems, and we can't always see what's going on, you did all you could.
