Is Hermione a boy??
Hiya,
I posted some pics a while back and generally the opinion was that my tortoise is a girl. However, the past few days when she's done a wee I've noticed a little pink thing pop out briefly then go straight back in. It's only little, about half an inch, with a round bit on the end. Is this a penis?! I was terrified it was a prolapse, but I've read on another forum that this happens quite a lot. She's 6-7 years old. Also, how long does an adult female (....or Male!!) grow for? She's about 6-7 and approx 5 inches carapace length, is she likely to get bigger? Thanks for your help, Christine |

Thank you! I'm relieved (just because I wouldn't want to change her name again!). I've learnt something new...I didn't know females have bits that stick out- is this normal? She is weeing and pooing as normal (daily) so I don't think it's anything sinister, but it's weird!

I have never seen any of my girls bits but seen plenty of pictures, so some must show them. Long as they've gone back in all should be OK 😁

Eventual size depends on a lot of things: sex (girls are bigger) subspecies, genetics, individual appetite...
I have female Hermans 2.5kg (& my friend has one 3.5kg!) |
