Bumpy Baby
Hi all, I was just wondering about my baby George. He is 18 months old now and is brought up well with all the correct conditions and fed only weeds with a few shop bought greens when I over wintered him. He just seems a little bumpy in comparision to his partner. Will he smooth out as he grows? am I doing something wrong? I try to only feed every other day so he does not grow too fast but if he is out in the sunshine obviously he takes what he wants. What do you think?

Baby George looks lovely, but i m no expert on little ones. - That's why i'd rather stick to adult torts. I'd worry about their shell.

I'd say he's a bit bumpy, yes. But does it matter? Not to him though it might matter to you!
Roland posted a photo of a really lumpy tortoise a couple of days ago and that one is permanently damaged and has not developed a proper skeleton. From what I can see, your tortoise is just a bit bumpy which is a different thing entirely. But that's just my opinion of course.

Only very slightly. My Reggie has a few bumps. He's gorgeous stop worrying xx
Reggie's dad is Herbie and not sure of the mums names. We'll have to see if they have the same parents on their certificates

It does not bother me, i just wanted to know if it was normal, not something I am doing. I dont want to cause any future problems.

It's really difficult to raise a totally smooth tortoise in captivity. Just keep an eye on whether he is unduly greedy and make sure you have an area in his table of sufficient humidity -like a humid hide. Also spray the substrate daily and give long warm baths.
