Tropical terrain compact brick
Hi I bought a komomdo tropic terrain compact brick as I seen it in a pet shop and thought it looked interesting however I don't know what it's for or how to use it.
Any clues??

Hi Laura. Seems to be something a bit like coco coir. Add a great deal of water and your brick expands to 7 times the size. The material can then be used as a substrate.

As Jonathan says, you simply add water. My sons have used various bricks in their amphibian enclosures. They seem to add water gradually to the brick to achieve the best substrate - too much water and it's mushy. Best to add a bit at a time until you get the consistency you're after. They mix it up in a bucket.
A lot of people are using this as substrate in their tort tables and some mix it together with topsoil, which keeps the dust down and increases the humidity. I haven't used it for my torts but those who do seem pleased with it as a substrate. Let us know how you get on with it.
