onion
hello all,
i had an animal keepers worst dream last night, our hamster escaped and got through the bigger bars of the rat enclosure. at midnight i checked the tort eggs and heard a buzzy fly in the room, because i was in darkness using my torch, i moved the torch about to see if there was a fly or a queen wasp in the room, i thought it could have been a fly buzzing around the rat enclosure, flies like smelly things! (although monty is always very clean) but anyways, i shone my torch through the bars and there was onion, our poor hand raised hamster barely recogniseable as she lay there.. i don't think i've ever seen my poor girlfriend so upset, ever. we double check doors and gates and lids when we leave the pet room but to our knowledge it was shut. we've had onion a year and a half and that was the first and only time she escaped. we've had a tortoise go this year, and a rat with cancer left us, ... we're not doing too well at the mo. poor onion

So sorry to hear about onion. I'm sure you did lock up and shouldnt feel guilty. We used to have a hamster that was always escaping from his cage no matter how narrow the bars.

so sorry to hear that. it is very sad but it's one of those things....if a hamster really wants to escape then it will no matter how much you lock up it's tank.
still a shame about onion tho |
