1. Is Gorse or Furz, Ulex europaeus. The flower's are edible rated high in crude plant protein, might ward off some keeper's but not a bad idea to feed a few flower's, if not much plant matter is to be found.
2. Is looking like a Ragwort 3. Is Lord's and Ladies, Arum Maculatum, or Italicum.

Number one is golden gorse, all over the hills near me.
I agree about number 2 being ragwort and 3 being lords and ladies. I wondered if number 4 might be a young red valerian plant? Feeb x |

Plant 4 does look like red valerian but I have compared it (there was some in same street) and they do not look the same, very similar though.
Thanks for replies!! |

4 isn't an edible one as far as I know.
the top one, gorse (or whin bush as we call them here) we used to pick the flowers to dye the hard boiled eggs at Easter when we were kids, can't remember how it was done but the eggs were wrapped in them and onion skins perhaps in a cloth bag or something. Probably these days kids don't dye or paint eggs or maybe even don't roll eggs do they? |
