Queen of the night

For those more green fingered amongst you, I thought I would show off the flowers of my cactus. The plant is one of many called "Queen of the night" - a name commonly given to Nocturnal flowering epiphytic cacti.

This species is Epiphyylum oxypetalum. the flowers are around 7" in diameter and last for just a single night. The fragrance is so strong that a single flower fills the room with a very intoxicating scent!

There is also a much commoner, red, day flowering species called Epiphylum x ackermanni which is a very common houseplant. Mine is also in full bloom at the moment.
